8 o’clock

8 o'clock service Rector Andy Wadsworth

Our 8 o’clock service is in the church building every Sunday at 8am. This service is a said BCP service, which means it uses our traditional Book of Common Prayer liturgies and there are no songs. It usually lasts 45-60 minutes.

The Book of Common Prayer has been used by churches for over 350 years. These words are poetic and beautiful, holding each of us within their ancient rhythms and deep truths. Although this kind of service may feel a bit strange to some, to others it is a well of wisdom which they return to week after week, year after year. These words unite us with others saying the same words across our country, and over the world today and throughout history.

This service follows the same sermon series as all of our other services. There are always two Bible readings and a sermon to explore at least one of the readings at this service. This services alternates between a service of Morning Prayer and a service of Holy Communion.

Once a month we gather in the TCCC after the 8 o’clock to share tea, coffee and a bit of toast. This is fondly known as ‘T’offee and Toast’.
