Helping the Homeless at the new temporary accommodation at Canonsgrove Halls of Residence

Dear Friends,

Following on from my Thought last week, I have now been able to contact some of those involved in organising the emergency accommodation for homeless people at Canonsgrove. Quantock Hall has been set up for up to 64 people to use in single self-contained rooms. It is being run by a multi-agency team involving the Council, YMCA, ARC, the Salvation Army and Open Door. There are currently 14 residents with others expected this week. They are being provided with 3 meals a day and the ability to self isolate – which is not possible with the layout at the town’s normal shelter.

How can we help?

  • Donations of non-perishable food, toiletries and adult clothes (washed and in good condition please). These can be left in the boxes in the church porch at All Saints (9am to 4pm) and will be delivered to Canonsgrove.
  • Help with making sandwiches (at your home) for the residents’ evening meal – maybe one evening a week. Please contact Salvation Army Officer, Theresa Torr, on 07962 538230 for more information if you are able to help. She can provide some ingredients if that is necessary.

Jesus said, ‘Let your light so shine before people, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.’ (Matthew 5v16)

With love in Christ,

Andy
