Prayer Letter for The Besom in Taunton February 2024

We welcomed the High Sheriff, Mr Robert Drewett, to the Besom warehouse on Thursday 8 February. He was most interested in the work we do and had a good look round the warehouse, chatting to the time-givers. Coffee and cakes were enjoyed by all! He was hosted by Roger Habgood, chairman of the trustees of The Besom in Taunton, and chairman of the Besom Network trustees.
Warehouse - Deliveries/Collections including Starter Packs
Warehouse - Deliveries/Collections including Starter Packs Deliveries to recipients were limited in the second half of January, following a second substantial donation, and much appreciated, of large items of furniture from the Manor Care Home. The 8 van runs collected 102 items and delivered 29, plus 5 Starter Packs. In addition, another 2 Starter Packs were collected from the warehouse by key workers.
We give thanks for:
• the generosity of many in our local communities who freely donate furniture and other items.
• the many time-givers who freely donate their time, energy and skill in the warehouse and in the van team.
Gardening and household maintenance projects.
It has been a quiet time as we paused our projects over the winter - we hope to resume them shortly and to be able to put together teams of time-givers to take on gardening and decorating work.
Please pray for:
• Time-givers’ availability for household sorting projects - that we can find suitable dates for teams to go in and support two families who are asking for help in their homes.
• Project assessments that are scheduled for this month - for wisdom as we consider what we can take on and the help we can provide.
The Besom – National
A significant amount of work and prayer has been undertaken to bring together and co-ordinate the many local Besoms spread across this country. You will notice Besom has a new logo. This is the result of much work by the Besom Network media team and a design consultant. So you will now see this logo on our website and social media. It is designed to be young and fresh, drawing together all Besoms.
• Give thanks for the local time-givers who have accepted roles within the Besom Network that are over and above their continuing local work.
• Please join us in praying for wisdom for the Network team as they seek a treasurer to support their work.
